ABSTRACT

Listeria monocytogenes is an important food-borne pathogen. The distribution and survival of L. monocytogenes are related to its ability to form biofilms. Biofilms are resistant to adverse environments, and bacteria separated from the biofilms may lead to persistent food contaminations. The formation, maturation and structure of biofilms depend on a variety of external and internal factors, among which a variety of regulatory mechanisms play important roles. This review summarizes the regulatory mechanisms (including intracellular, intercellular and interspecific interactions) involved in the biofilm formation of L. monocytogenes in order to control the biofilm formation in food processing environments, thus providing new intervention strategy for food safety.

ABSTRACT

Objective To improve the in vivo analgesic activity of acacetin and find leads for the development of new drugs, novel acacetin derivatives containing alkyl amide groups with different length of carbon chain were designed and synthesized according to the molecular structure of the active hit compound found in our previous work. Methods Using apigenin as the initial chemical ma-terial,the acacetin was synthesized through 3 steps, then the target compounds were prepared by conjugating hydroxy group of acace-tin at position 7 with bromoalkyl amides. The analgesic activity of the target compounds was evaluated by acetic acid writhing model of mice. Results and Conclusion Novel acacetin alkyl amide derivatives showed more potent analgesic activities than that of clinical medicine diclofenac, which could be used as leads for further development of new drugs.

ABSTRACT

Equity of the essential medicine system involves social justice, being important in health services availability equity. The essential medicine system,in practice in China, has to a certain extent improved the equity of health service availability, yet found with poor equity in the process due to differences in insurance, regional diversity, pricing of essential medicine, and poor implementation of the system at primary medical institutions.Such equity needs to be further improved in the future in such aspects, consistence of different insurance reimbursement percentages, further support to underdeveloped areas, encouragement of market competition, and better compliance of primary medical institutions in implementing the system.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Mini-screw anchorage is an innovation technique applied in the orthodontic field, expanding the treatment ability of orthodontic appliance. Accurate of mini-screw insertion in the target position is a clinical problem which making orthodontist trouble in this technique application. OBJECTIVE: To introduce a kind of three dimensional guide of mini-screw used as anchorage in orthodontic treatment and to evaluate the positioning accuracy. DESIGN, TIME AND SE'I-rlNG: A contrast study was performed at the Department of Orthodontics, Capital Medical University from April to October 2005. PARTICIPANTS: Twenty cases (40 mini-screws) of maxillary critical anchorage requisition were considered as the experimental group, and 15 cases (30 mini-screws) who were not treated with surgical guide were considered as the control group. METHODS: Self-made stent was used as a positioning guide for implantation of mini-screw anchorage between the roots of upper second bicuspid and first molar. Thereafter, the position was measured. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The vertical distance from measure points to the reference middle line were measured. RESULTS: In 40 mini-screws inserted with the aid of surgical guide, the average survival time of mini-screw as anchorage was 10.3 months, 2 were lost, and the success rate was 95%. The average survival time of 30 mini-screws in the control group was 9 months, 9 were loss, and the success rate was 70%. The positioning measurement showed that deviation of mini-screw was not found in the experimental group, but it was found in the control group. CONCLUSION: By aid of surgical guide splint, mini-scraw can be inserted correctly into the target region.
